Techno Side Scroller Level

In this level I wanted to test my ability to design a 2D space around a few simple mechanics to get a better idea of how player abilities could affect layout choices. The mechanics I designed were: 2 types of walls which the player can control collision on, ramping speed and the ability to instantly reverse the players momentum. The overall theme for the level is techno with lots of glowing neon.

The main focus of this project was learning how to perform a location study and use it to create an interesting area. The location I choose to study was the Utah Museum of Fine Arts. Rather than making a traditional museum I choose to make it seem abandoned and run down with environmental storytelling alluding to the workers doing something nefarious here, with a suspicious artifact.

This is a project I made where I was tasked with giving a presentation about something involving my major. Rather than following a simple presentation structure I decided to structure it around a short story of a person getting trapped in an abandoned museum so I could involve the museum level from above. The overall presentation is about weenies in games, where the term came from, what they are, and how they are used.
